Reflection: In this mapping assignment, we had to choose 3 different, but similar in type of locations to take pictures of and add metadata to our own map of the locations. My locations I chose were schools: Georgia State University Atlanta Campus, Georgia State University Clarkston Campus, and Drew Charter School. AI has evolved rapidly throughout the years, and we now have many different forms of surveillance with AI like CCTV, facial recognition, etc. We have gone from paper to interactive maps and interactive maps have these AI surveillances embedded in them tracking our moves, for example, when we take a photo on our smartphones, the location is tracked. This is just one of the examples of how AI is changing in tracking us.
A good effort, Skyla, on your project. The metadata sheet is clean and easy to read, while the map completes the project well. The thesis struggles a little as it is a bit repetitive (Because these locations are in urban settings, they are urban). Perhaps consider the growth of these urban locations encourages a need to modernize school campuses? With that, also consider how the images, map, and metadata all work together to explore concepts of AI. What issues does modernization have on AI's influence and presence?
I like the locations you choose especially since I know them very well haha. I liked how you mention that location is embedded in the photos we take today. That added feature is something cool and innovated through AI great post.
Hey Skyla! I agree, this assignment was a great way to understand how easily our location can be tracked using outside forces. I almost added my home as a dot on my may for reference, but then quickly removed it, because nobody needs to know where I live.😅I hope people become less comfortable giving out their information to freely.
