Artificial Intelligence (AI) has evolved very fast and is now used by millions in the entire world. Though there are many concerns about the ethics of AI and its capabilities. An ethical issue spoken about in the O’Reilly video is AI bias. Some AI systems are trained on a limited basis and lack diversity, so there is a lack of information when it comes to women and minorities. In an article from the American Psychological Association (APA), they expand on AI bias and apply it to real life also. The APA states, “AI-driven career guidance system could unintentionally steer a woman away from jobs in STEM...” This all goes back to the way AI is trained and the clear bias some systems have. This is also a direct example on how AI can impacts the convergent nature on our digital spaces if AI hiring/guidance services are used. Some more concerns about the ethics of AI is privacy. Personal information given to AI is no longer personal as AI can use and give the information out to anyone as it is stored in its systems. There are also general safety concerns within AI as it could cause mental harm especially if we consider and speak to AI as a “friend.”

A sound exploration of the issues of AI and bias, particularly as it relates to various trainings and its impact on peoples lives (like choosing a job). Good use of a secondary source to support the O'Reilly podcast we listened to.
